I think I was born one…

What advice would you give to a smart, driven college student about to enter the “real world”? What advice should they ignore?

Be on time, listen, do more than is expected of you. Don’t believe the world owes you anything, or rely on anyone else to get it for you. Nothing was ever achieved without hard work and consistently good commitment.

What careers advice would you give to your 21-year old self?

Don’t spend your money before you earnt it and save more for a rainy day.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

Detective or Private Investigator.

Where do you see your industry in the next 5 years?

Evolving, automation and digitisation will really pick up pace.

Tell us about someone you admire and why you admire them?

Anyone who achieves success, success never comes easy and there are so many inspirational characters in all walks of life we can all learn from.

What is currently wrong with the recruitment process today?

Too many people are doing what they have always done, expecting different results, almost everyone knows that there is or, should be a better way but very few are delivering it and or, looking for it.

What is the most common mistake you see people make when applying for jobs?

Sending the same CV to every role.

What is a hot skill that can benefit everyone's resume?

Patience. Just breathe, take a beat and count to 10.

How does your resume advice change from a 22 year old to a 35 year old?

It doesn’t really, be yourself and make it crystal clear what someone is getting from you, whether it be who you are and what makes you different to everyone else, through what you have done and achieved, work or otherwise.

What did you have for breakfast this morning?

Porridge Oats, with some blueberries, banana and honey with a White Tea, Actimel and a Berocca.
